Hi Family, extended Family and friends,

A quick update from me and a request. Please forward if I’ve missed people, it’s for a good cause.

Update -  Qedis has rebranded to North Highland. We were very similar and have been joined at the hip for the last 5 years so it’s more of a name change than anything. I’ve moved into a Global role leading our CIO Services across our 50+ Offices in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific (locations below/attached – I’ll be racking up some airmiles!). On a personal level Yioula and I are enjoying Oliver(2), Nicole(4) starting Nursery and Kindergarten and Georgia(20) studying Psychology at Liverpool, Lizzy(21) enjoying her first proper job for Alliance Boots after studying at Nottingham Uni.

Request -  One of the things Qedis always enjoyed and we are continuing was working with a small charity each year (not just fundraising) to really make a difference to them.

We have an annual event each year Challenge-You which forms the main fundraising effort. Someone in the company thinks up a crazy goal we can get sponsored for. Last year it was to exercise for 24 hours and  some of you will recall I rowed 205km on a rowing machine, raised a lot of money and got a very sore bum;-).

This year we are supporting The Haven - an inspiring a network of volunteers that support and empower adults and young people who have suffered incest, childhood sexual abuse, serious sexual assault, physical, mental, emotional abuse, rape, domestic violence, gang-related sexual abuse or torture.

Challenge You 2013: 4000 Miles from our London to Atlanta offices – our employees take part in various sporting activities to cumulatively cover the distance between our office in Covent Garden to our office over the pond in Atlanta, a distance of a whopping 4000 miles! Almost all of our 200+ London based employees are contributing miles somehow.

My part in this will be to cycle as far as I can towards that total in the 18 hours from the stroke of midnight on Friday till the event finishes at 6pm on Saturday 11th May. That’s 18 hours and I’m hoping to hit 200 miles. I cycled from central London to my Parents in Southampton via Bognor Regis as part of my training on Monday and that 125 miles took me 10 hours so if you want to sponsor per mile you can be fairly certain I’ll break 150 and won’t get to 250. I hoping it’ll be easier doing it with a bunch of my friends colleagues but the weather is looking windy which isn’t great.

Please join me in supporting Haven, I’ve heard some harrowing stories whilst working with them and some inspiring ways they’ve helped people recover. There a quite a few people receiving this so I’m hoping a lot of you contributing a little each will add up to a lot, so even if it’s just a pound, every little helps and is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Ben.
